Meditate several times a day, is that ok?
Meditate several times a day, is that ok? You are listening to your instincts, and that’s very good. We all have stressful days. Meditation is a great stress reduction technique due to its calming effect on our nervous system. When we meditate our mind and body enters our relaxations mode and calms us down. Some days are more stressful than others so it’s understandable that you want to add some more meditation time when the you feel stressful.
It is recommended that you meditate for 20 minutes twice a day. Once in the morning before breakfast and once in the afternoon. If you meditate for less than the 20 minutes twice a day you will not be able to fully experience the benefits of meditation. This is the best daily dose of meditation for most people. If you meditate more than that you go a little bit spacy. Less than that, and you won’t truly scratch the meditation itch.
What I recommend you to do is to add a short 10-minute meditation in the middle of the day somewhere when you need it. It is OK to add this extra meditation from time to time, but a consistent daily practice is the best for you. You can also consider going for a mindful walk outside in fresh air for 10 minutes to release stress.
But if you want to develop a consistence meditation practice, I recommend that you meditate twice a day. So, give yourself 20 minutes twice a day, once in the morning before coffee and breakfast and once in the afternoon. This would normally make you fully experience the benefits of meditation. Enjoy your meditation practice.
