How can I meditate if I can’t sit still? This is a question that is often asked. We have all been there and sometimes it feels impossible to sit still when meditating. But there are many different kind of meditation techniques. Our traditional view on meditation is sitting still. But with the energizing body and mind meditation technique it’s not about sitting still, but more about being in motion.

Energizing body and mind meditation technique

We can use different kind of meditation techniques depending on what we want with our meditation. Sometimes we need to reduce stress and be calmer. Then we can practice meditation techniques like present moment awareness or transcendence. Other times we need more energy. Then we can practice meditation techniques like Breath of Fire, which is an energizing body and mind technique. If you are a kind of person that is restless, the energizing body and mind meditation techniques works well for you. You have several different techniques that stimulates different kind states of consciousness to choose from.

Find your meditation technique

As mentioned Breath of fire which is very expressive, very powerful, very energetic and very moving. But also, techniques like Kabalbhati pranayama, Alternate Nostril Pranayama, Bhastrika Pranayama and Chakras. But some days you may need to reduce stress and then you can use meditation techniques like present moment awareness or mantra-based meditation. For instance, when using a mantra meditation your meditative experience is very subtle. When you are looking at mantra-based meditations, it’s very on that subtle end of experience where it’s all stuff that’s happening inside the mind.

When we practice energized body and mind meditations you can use meditation techniques like Alternate Nostril Pranayama for 2 to 5 minutes or Bhastrika Pranayama for 30 seconds to two minutes. If you use any other meditation techniques like present moment awareness or transcendence meditation it’s recommended that you meditate twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon for about 20 minutes. If you want, you can combine energizing body and mind meditations with other techniques. Remember to be kind to yourself in this process, so if you can’t sit still during meditation, try an energizing body and mind meditation technique.
