Energizing meditations when pregnant or menstruating

Energizing meditations when pregnant or menstruating?

Can I do these energizing meditations when pregnant or menstruating? This is an important question. Let’s start with the short version of this two-part question. When practicing energizing body and mind meditations you should not practice any meditation techniques that engage the abdomen really strong. And when menstruating, listen to your body.
If you are pregnant and want to practice energizing body and mind meditations that engages the abdomen really strong where you are pushing from your belly, these meditation techniques are really not god to do while you are pregnant at all. This can lead to early labor. If you want to do some sort of energizing body and mind meditations it’s better to choose one of the subtler ones, like the Slow Pranayama, Breathing into the chakras or Extended outward breath meditations. These are great to do when you are pregnant. But do not practice any meditation techniques that are forceful when you are pregnant. Keep you stress levels low and take care of yourself and your baby and nurture and love that baby in the belly with a more relaxing meditation practice.
Traditionally energizing body and mind meditations like Breath of Fire and techniques that includes active and strong abdominal movements should not be done by women who are menstruating. But let your own body be your guide. Your mileage may vary. Some menstruate more strongly than others. But, try the energizing meditation you want and listen to your body. If you feel good you can continue, if not, then stop and switch to one of the subtler ones, as mentioned above, the Slow Pranayama, Breathing into the chakras or Extended outward breath meditations.
Be kind to yourself and start really gentle. It’s only a week’s time that you just can’t do that particular practice. Just focus more on the gentler versions of those things.
